AND NOW THE END IS NEAR

I never thought l would come to the end. OH WHAT A FEELING.
I think our branch manager will be glad to see the end of blogging, as every week not only helping one but 4 people with the event. Although there was a lot of groans when BLOGGING was mentioned, l found that overall there were some useful applications, especially for small community groups to advertise what is available, and also for library applications. As being in a small branch the time factor played a big part, trying to fit it in each week.
Whether l would use in the future, time will tell.

ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING

AUDIO BOOKS (definitely the end is in sight - 1 2 go)

Audio books would be so useful for any library, large or small. This gives anyone a variety of titles to choose from. It is impossible to have all titles, so this would be a bonus for any library. Also would be useful for set school reading lists, when multiple copies are required at once.

PODDY CAST

Podcasts would be a useful source for any application in any field. From a step by step guide to advertising different areas of the library. Would be a useful source for any business or community group.

You too can youtube like l can youtube

Why did l choose this - because l did. This is what Strathfieldsaye Football Club will look like in 2009. And it was better than "Kevin's Hair".
You could use this in library applications if you wanted to promote a feature of the library, or an on going feature like Storytime. Lookout Haley - Lights, camera, action.

Web 2.0 Awards

I looked at Mashups and l certainly could see useful applications for Community Groups to use.
Eg. A new football club. You could create all the links for all the features of your club in one application.
You could use this in library applications of whatever specifics you require - all cookbooks, authors that write in similiar style.

Blogging Again

This would be a useful tool, if you lived distances apart, as rather than trying to all get together, you could use this and add things to it, rather than sitting face to face. This would be helpful in libraries with adding authors or adding authors that write like another author. Can see lots of benefits for people in remote areas, as well as for professional areas.

We plan to finish this blogging, or we owe Kinta a bottle of Chardy.

Playing around with PBWiki

Why aren't they all like this one, it was easy to use and Braidies Tavern could be swamped every night.

Wiki Waki Woo

Wiki's would be useful to a lot of user groups. They would have to constantly check them for current information. I think it would be useful for community groups to update items and without having to answer duplicate emails about the same thing.
It would also be useful for link ups where distance is a factor.
It would be useful for library applications for listing of authors by genre and other authors that write similiar books, this would be useful as it would be constantly updated.
The downside is you would have to constantly look at this as well as emails. Will it get out of control!!!!!!!!

Web 2.0 Library 2.0 - this is the question

I see two sides that if people want to use this then they will and in a big way. But on the other hand l can see the other side who don't want to have anything to do with it and will never use it or simply don't want to learn about it.
It is like everything the choice is yours!!!!!

Technorati

Searching by advanced search and just search made no difference, and brought up the same things. A lot of it was based from america which related nothing to the topic l was searching, as it was an Aussie subject. Searching a more broader term brought up nothing relating to my subject. So you would have to be specific or refine your search for a particular topic.

Delicious

Well delicious doesn't relate anything to food, unfortunately. This would be useful for uni students, having to tag different sites, and have a key word to bring all the different sites and what other people have tagged as well relating to different subjects.

Rollyo - yo-yo-yo

Found this easy to use and useful if you had a passion or dedicated to a particular hobby.

LibraryThing

I hate crows - you had to be there when l wrote this

Wow - Image generators

Just imagine what you could do with so many different images and the things you can create.
Fun to use with all the different things you can create.

RSS FEEDS - Run now!!!

What can l say about RSS Feeds. Getting RSS Feeds is simple, but adding them to your blog. Really sore point. After 2 of us spending quite a lot of time trying to get them to the blog, and then coming in next day and someone showing you what stepped you have missed. How INFURIATING. Wait till l let the other person know, l can just see the look on his face now. They are simple once you know how. Firstly l used well known websites and found the link to RSS Feeds. Google blog and Topix.net were easy to use.

Technology – Thank goodness for Change

When l first entered the work force, only those few years ago.!!! I can remember we would have to do a monthly back up of the computer at work and you would go and get what looked like 5 33 1/3 vinyl LP records stacked on top of one another in a tupperware container. (david stop laughing) You would have to get another person to go with you as they were too heavy to carry by yourself. Those were the days (or not).
Then as time goes on how things have become more compact and small. Take the first mobile phone which was the size of a brick and to now as small as you want, and you don't have to stand on the highest point with your arms as antennas to get any reception at all.
Back in 1982 ET: The extra Terrestrial has to use a normal landline to call home.
1984 - The film 16 Candles is the first to feature the DynaTAC 8000X. Samantha Baker's love
interest Jake Ryan has a cellular phone in his dad's Rolls Royce. Still a rich kid's toy.
1987 - In the first Lethal Weapon film Sergeant Roger Murtagh uses one of the early, large
portable phones from its shoulder mounted carry case to discuss with a psychologist that
he suspects that Sargent Martin Riggs, his partner, is insane.
1990 - In Beverley Hills 90210 there is a division between the rich and poor kids at Beverley
Hills High based on who has their own mobile and who doesn't.
1990 - Viv (played by Julia Roberts) in Pretty Woman is out shopping when she passes two
guys in a car trying to hold on to their greater-than-fist-sized phones. And they think
they are so cool, but not today.

A spare 5 minutes or 2 hours.

Looking at the different sites, you could spend quite a lot of time just viewing different pictures, shapes, whatever you were after. I liked how the Flickr Color Pickr worked, with clicking on a colour and different images appeared. You could get some interesting wallpapers.

Now l am going to use Webdings font - guess what l wrote???
Now for those crazy people that would actually go this far to find out what l wrote. CONGRATULATIONS. AND YOU NEED HELP.
